Frequently Asked QuestionsHow does your product connect directly to transactional data sources?Access to transactional data sources is a key differentiator of the Diver Solution because it connects to flat files and all ODBC compliant data sources to seamlessly integrate data from multiple sources. The Diver Solution's ETL tool for data integration automates the process of connecting to multiple, disparate data sources. Does your product need a third party data integrator/joiner product? No, Dimensional Insight's Diver Solution does not require a third party data integrator/joiner product. We propose using the Diver Solution's ETL tool for data integration. This powerful ETL tool manipulates and integrates flat or relational files from disparate sources. The graphical interface alleviates the need for any programming or scripting for most integration functions. Are data marts/warehousing available in your products?Yes, the actual data Model structure used is a highly indexed data mart. Dimensional Insight has four patents for the way the software indexes information in a Model format, which gives end-users almost instantaneous ad-hoc results. A data warehouse can be built from the results of the ETL process, where all files have been cleansed based on the ETL parameters. How do you service the needs of both power users and occasional users? The Diver Solution takes full advantage of web and browser technology and provides a simple approach to implementation and administration. The spectrum of user needs are met through the delivery of information within various functionality levels. The DivePort and ProDiver clients deliver powerful reporting and analysis functions, and can be used by most users with a minimum 2-hour training session. For power users and IS/IT administrators, Dimensional Insight offers several in-depth training classes for users who wish to take advantage of advanced features and development/customization tools. The interfaces have the same look and feel so users can access via their method of choice (web, LAN, or disconnected) and receive the same familiar views and tools. Does this application have a user-friendly front end?Yes, Dimensional Insight's Diver Solution is unique in the way it presents information and query capabilities to the user. Because there are no hierarchy limitations or pre-set query paths to navigate or understand, the end user is free to build queries (or "dives") based on whatever thought process or set of data is most relevant. There is no need for users to have to understand data constructs or be constrained to pre-defined drill-paths. However, reports and analysis can also be saved (or pre-defined) and shared if desired. In this way, frequently executed "standard" reports can be constructed, or partially completed work can be stored to be resumed at a later time. Users are provided with an extremely intuitive interface that makes all relevant data available for analysis without requiring any knowledge of the source database. All navigation is achieved via a point-and-click interface, where the user is not required to type in calculations or any parameters in order to access and analyze the information they need. Does the product allow for ease of report flexibility (moving columns, adjusting sort hierarchy) and formatting (fonts/colors)?Users can customize all reports, tabular views, graphs, charts, and maps. Typically, this is achieved using techniques that are already familiar to users through the use of other PC applications, such as spreadsheets. Are products ad-hoc capable?Yes, the Diver Solution allows users to define and populate reports without any IS/IT intervention. All reports can be created using a point-and-click windows interface. Ad-hoc analysis can be performed from any report, screen, or view by simply "diving" further into the available data elements in the Console window. |
