Parkview Health Reduces Ad-Hoc Report Requests with the Diver SolutionManaged Care Services (MCS), a division of Parkview Health, implemented the Diver Solution to provide end-users with access to membership, referral, and utilization data. The system includes hospitals, physician clinics, medical research centers, home health agencies, laboratories, fitness centers, behavioral medicine, and other healthcare organizations. "The management staff in various departments will now have access to corporate data, which will allow us to do business in a different light," states Philip Henneman, Director of Care Management and Quality Services for MCS. "Previously, when we needed a piece of data, the IS department would have to run a query. With this technology, our management staff will be able to find the necessary information on their own. We'll be pulling data out of a SQL warehouse and building multidimensional Models that will contain up-to-date information. This will surely eliminate a large portion of the ad-hoc reporting that we request from the IS staff." Reports generated by Diver are automatically updated as the data is updated, and they allow users to navigate through the data on their own to find answers. Each element in a report is "live," meaning the user is able to click on the actual report to reveal the supporting details. Reports will center around claims lag tables, membership information, risk products, and utilization, as MCS manages several HMO and PPO plans for 100,000 members. "We looked at several different business intelligence tools," explains Henneman. "With this technology, we felt comfortable in having complete control of our data. We could build the Models, adapt the necessary data elements, and make modifications, such as changing or adding a calculation, without the intervention of an outside company." "The solution is a perfect fit for MCS due to our ability to extract information from their SQL warehouse, display the information in a way that end-users understand, and provide users with an instant response to their queries," says Ron Felt, Industry Director for Dimensional Insight. "Users see results right away, and gain greater insight into any facet of their business. Healthcare organizations are able to spend less time finding out where modifications are needed, and more time deciding how to enhance the quality of care and cut expenses." About Parkview Health |
