About the User Interface

The Diver Solution is unique in the way it presents information and query capabilities to the user. Because there are no hierarchy limitations or pre-set query paths to navigate or understand, the end user is free to build queries (or "dives") based on whatever thought process or set of data is most relevant. There is no need for users to understand data constructs or pre-defined drill-paths.

The Diver Solution presents the end user with options to access and query information from Diver clients:

  • Via the Diver Console - The Console window shows all of the information that is available, and provides point-and-click access to each Dimension. This method is very popular with power users and technical staff who are familiar with the data and do not want application automation involved with queries.


  • Via the DiveBook - This collection of pre-defined reports is typically used as a "jumping-off point" for users. Once the report is chosen and displayed, the user can navigate through the data in multiple ways, either by using the Console, or with QuickViews, which are point-and-click pulldowns and picklists that auto-populate depending on the data that the user has most recently chosen to display.

"Go Anywhere" Technology

All navigation is achieved via a point-and-click interface, where the user is not required to type in calculations or any parameters in order to access and analyze information. Users never have to think in terms of query creation because there are no complexities of the data to limit the user; queries are generated based on the users' needs and the data available in the system. Therefore, the user may go anywhere in the data at any time. There are no predefined hierarchies that limit user navigation and access to data.

Advanced Features

Advanced features such as MultiTab, CrossTab, and multiCrossTab offer the user many viewing options to display the data. Visualization capabilities include bar plots, line plots, cross bar plots, cross line plots, stacked bar plots, scatter plots, pie graphs, and maps that all contain "live" data offering users powerful analytical capabilities. Users click on actual bars, areas, or cells in any graph, map, or spreadsheet to dive deeper and deeper into the data. Period comparison and time-series capabilities are standard features of the The Diver Solution.

Grouping Functions and Search/Find Functions

Grouping functions and search/find functions extend the user friendly capabilities. Unique counts within each Dimension at every level of a dive and a navigation path indicator complement the intuitive user interfaces. A grouping of data is treated as a Dimension, updating values within the Console. Dimensional Insight's patented technology provides the The Diver Solution user the capability to excerise navigational freedom without knowledge of the underliying data structure or relationships. Users may seach for key words or codes within thousands of rows of data. At any time while navigating through the data, users may save their analysis, share the results with other users, and even recall a previous analyses populated with current data. Analysis may be performed with any data Dimension, predefined calculation, or user defined calculation.
