JAVA UI ENGINEER – SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Cambridge, MA

If you love to be challenged, you thrive in a “big fish in a small pond” environment, you can write awesome UI code in Java, and want to be part of a team of extremely talented engineers bringing our web portal to the next level, then we might have something to offer.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally1-4 years experience developing web based software in JAVA, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • UI development experience with a keen eye for the user experience.
  • Experience in the following is desirable: Ajax, JAVA Servlets, Rich Internet Applications, Portlets or Web portals, Tomcat, Apache.
  • Ability and aptitude to work in a small environment where you take the ball and run with it.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in C.S. or related Field.

Duties:

  • Create detailed, modern, user-friendly user interfaces, dashboards and portlets as part of the DI Portal software including the healthcare and supply chain industries.
  • Create client applications and user interfaces using JSP's, JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX.
  • Work in collaboration with other developers on challenging projects in an evolving technical environment.

This position is located in our engineering office located in Central Square. We work in a small, unstructured, office of a dozen developers where each takes individual ownership of challenging, autonomous projects, from design clear through to implementation with the customer, where their work has a visible impact.

TRADE SHOW MARKETING ASSISTANT

Burlington, MA

Dimensional Insight's marketing department is looking for a bright, self-motivated individual interested in learning more about strategic event marketing, brand promotion, and integrated marketing communications activities.

The Trade Show Marketing Assistant is an entry-level position that encompasses many areas of our marketing activities including, but not limited to:

  • Complete necessary event documentation including contracts, deposits, and correspondence to ensure contractual deadlines are met
  • Maintain booth inventory, coordinate packing, transportation and delivery, and restocking of booth and materials
  • Create and maintain a library (both electronic and hard copy formats) of marketing materials (i.e. tradeshow signage images, direct mail pieces, current and past collateral)
  • Coordinate all exhibit logistics - staffing needs, exhibit furnishings, electrical/AV requirements, freight, and lead retrieval systems
  • Work directly with sales representative to ensure their needs are met for each of their assigned trade shows
  • Order promotional and give-away items for trade show use
  • Secure hotel rooms for all employees attending trade shows or event related meetings
  • Update and maintain trade show schedule and shipping logistics schedule for all events
  • Order and maintain Marketing Department collateral
  • Support event related direct mail/email campaigns
  • Maintain contact database to ensure campaign distribution lists are current
  • Coordinate lead management tracking for trade shows with Customer Support team

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a BS in Marketing, Communications, English or related field. Prior experience in a Marketing Department is strongly preferred. Proficiency in MS Office suite required, with strong focus in Excel. Experience with Adobe CS product suite is a plus. This position requires extreme flexibility, ability to complete tasks independently, ability to prioritize, strong verbal communications, the ability to manage many details simultaneously, and a desire to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. This opportunity will eventually require domestic travel for some trade shows.

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE CONSULTANT – PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

San Diego, CA

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Consultant to join our team at our office in San Diego, in Mission Valley, 3-4 miles from San Diego State University. These are great career opportunities for highly motivated and business-minded college graduates with a strong interest and aptitude for technology and who enjoy working with clients.

Successful applicants will be detail- oriented and have high comfort level with technology, familiar with and/or comfortable with learning a scripting language similar to PERL, will be familiar with networking, and relational databases. The focus of this role is to work with customers helping their organizations leverage this product family from pre-sales through the deployment process. To be successful candidates must be programming oriented and have strong communication skills and customer presence.

Key Areas of Results:

  • Capability and aptitude in scripting or programming skills to create solutions for a variety of business problems. This role includes programming in DI’s own proprietary language, report generation (using a client tool) and user support.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and functional stakeholders within a variety of organizations.
  • Ability to understand business needs, gather business requirements, and create an effective solution.
  • A can-do, self-starter who welcomes working with external customers and an innate desire to learn new information.
  • Ability to develop creative, flexible solutions, based on the business requirements.

Functional Requirements:

  • A technical background with a strong desire to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Must have knowledge of at least one programming language.
  • Must be able to work within a Windows and Linux environment.
  • Prefer knowledge or past experience working with a scripting language, such as Perl, SAS or an ETL tool.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and data feeds desirable.
  • Some business background is good, understanding of general business processes and ERP systems.
  • Networking and Web server experiences a MINOR plus.
  • The consultant will use the DI products to create a reporting and analysis environment intended to meet specific customer requirements.
  • The consultant will write Integrator scripts, build models and create reports.
  • The consultant will provide ongoing customer support, for user questions or data issues (NOTE: Interreport is the in-house support for our customers, where DI’s Consultants do the setup and leave ongoing support to the customer.)

Position Requirements:

  • Education: BS in Computer Science, Math, Business, or Economics, preferably a dual or combination degree which includes some technical courses.
  • Experience: Some familiarity and/or experience in MIS, Business Intelligence or Business Reporting environment is a plus. Entry level, junior positions are available.
  • Approximately 10% US travel required.
  • Must be articulate, self motivated and have a professional customer service/support demeanor.
  • Must possess excellent customer interfacing, verbal and written communication skills.

SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Cambridge, MA

Duties:

Responsible for all aspects of software development and deployment process for company's business intelligence (data visualization, analysis and reporting) software products. Meet with customers to properly understand and create product requirements. Install and maintain Unix on applications server, along with other needed software including the Postgres database server. Design SQL database in multidimensional structure, and act as a Database Administrator (DBA). Use Python and the Python DB-API to generate complex SQL to access and manipulate database, and write ETL scripts to that can also perform bulk processing of data. Integrate these operations into multidimensional database server written in C.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Five (5) years experience in software engineering, development or programming, for software to create and access complex databases using SQL.
  • Will accept alternate combination of Master’s degree in Computer Science and three (3) years of such experience. Experience may be post-BS and before or during Master’s degree studies.
  • In depth knowledge in database theory, and in multidimensional structures and how to implement these structures in an SQL database.
  • Ability to design SQL databases and write code that accesses and updates SQL databases using complex queries to implement application logic.
  • Familiarity with Java, C, Python, Postgres, ETL technology, and web applications.
  • Experience must include system administration with ability to install and maintain Unix systems and database servers.
